Olympic Village | Millennium Project
After an intense two years with an uncompromising schedule, The Olympic Village was completed in late 2009. This legacy project has achieved Leeds Platinum ND, and is officially the most energy efficient and sustainable neighborhood on earth. The mechanical contract for these parcels was just under $40 million dollars and was built with some of the most sustainable mechanical and plumbing materials and products on the market. The projects main source of heating and cooling is provided by a capillary mat system that is installed above the ceiling and radiates heat and cooling.
The domestic hot water system was designed entirely with aquatherm plastic piping and Wirsbro piping systems. These systems are far more efficient then the traditional copper piping systems allowing for superior flow characteristics, which in turn allows the pipe sizing to be reduced in size and providing up to 75 years in life span on the domestic water systems eliminating the need to re pipe in approximately 20 years with the traditional piping systems. The grey water system also provides the water closets with water from the rainwater harvesting system, thereby conserving on our precious British Columbia’s water supply.
